Our History |
The station started out in 1993 from Rowlett, Texas as "Lone Star Radio". Playing the Adult Album Alternative format , LSR was broadcasting on AM 1620 as a carrier- current station with 25 watts. Later we added an audio stream on the brand new world wide web. In 1997 the carrier- current signal was turned off and became on-line only. In 1999 the format was changed and we were known as Sunset Jazz, providing one of the first Smooth Jazz streams online and was generating revenue and was very successful until the dot com bust in 2000. The station remained online and eventually added a low power terrestrial radio outlet on 1650 AM. Lake Shore Radio a.k.a. K-LSR 1650 signed on the air on February 7, 2008 from our current Highland Meadows studios in Rowlett. The Smooth Jazz format also changed to Classic Hits. June 28th 2015 a second transmitter was purchased and launched on 1680 am playing the smooth jazz and then the Oldies Radio format from Oldiesradio.us. The 1680 frequency was taken down in January 2nd 2016. Lake Shore 1650 also provides an audio stream that can be found by logging on to our homepage.
